March news
Our team has been busy over the past few months, and in this blog post, we’re delighted to share some of our latest news, including plans for the Community Girls Network, our expansion into a new rural community, and a glimpse of how young mothers’ lives are changing through the project. Thank you for making this, and so much more, possible.

A permanent home for the Community Girls Network
We’re excited to share some news - we’re soon to start construction on a new home for the Community Girls Network (CGN) in Bo district. The airy 2-to 3-roomed building will provide a permanent hub for young mothers to come together. It will serve as a safe space for vocational training, livelihood activities, planning meetings, social gatherings, and more. In essence, it will become their home.
‘The new building will show people that we are serious. That we are here to stay.’ Doris, community mentor and leader.
Many of you will already be familiar with the CGN's work. It started with a seed of an idea back in 2020, when a group of young mothers in our project began organising weekly study groups in their community, inviting other young mothers to join.
‘We began to notice other young mothers in the community who were struggling. We wanted to help them, to pass on the knowledge and learnings we have been lucky to gain thanks to the AdAmi Project.’ Tiangay, CGN leader.
Over the past six years, under the leadership of our local partner MEANS, it has grown into something extraordinary. Through their own initiative, the young mothers have established small vocational training and livelihood hubs, started community farms, and delivered hundreds of hours of awareness-raising and advocacy activities. Most importantly, the network has become a source of hope and encouragement for other vulnerable girls and young mothers.
Now I have girlfriends! We love and support each other.’ Mary, CGN member.
At present, the network uses a makeshift building for training and meetings, but it is not fit for purpose.
The young mothers have proven they are committed and serious to the work, and so, after several years of discussion, we feel that the time is right to give them what they so desperately want and need - a permanent place of their own.
The new hub is part of our wider plans to support the CGN’s sustainability and local ownership. The construction and setup of the hub will be covered by a separate, dedicated fundraising initiative. This means that all regular donations will continue to exclusively support our long-term work with individual young mothers.
A warm welcome to new project participants from a rural community near Bo town.
In other news
We’re expanding! In January, we launched our project in a new rural community close to Bo town. This is something the local AdAmi team have been keen to do for some time, recognising the significant unmet needs of girls and young women in more rural settings, where teenage pregnancy rates are high, poverty is widespread, and opportunities to learn and earn an income are limited.
In close collaboration with local community leaders, 31 young mothers, ranging in age from 15 to 19, have been selected to join the project. They’ve already begun weekly life skills and mentoring sessions. Soon, they will start short-term vocational training and livelihood courses. ‘They are so engaged and enthusiastic. They are doing so well so far,’ our social worker, Andreta, told us.

Our 2025 impact report - coming soon. Our team has been busy behind the scenes over recent months, pulling together our data and impact for 2025. We’re still firming up the report, which we hope to publish by the end of April, but we wanted to share just a few things that the young mothers told us. Their words perfectly capture the impact and change we strive to create:
‘I can now buy rice and pay for my child’s schooling - it’s made a real difference.’ Martha
‘I feel different now - empowered and hopeful. I believe I can achieve my goals.’ Isatu.
‘My family has embraced me. I even have the skills to bake them birthday cakes now!’ Bintu.

If you’re already a regular donor to our work - a padi - thank you. Your generosity is changing lives and opening new opportunities for young mothers every day.
If you’d like to join our community of supporters, a one-off or regular donation as a padi will help us expand our reach, strengthen communities, and ensure no young mother is left behind. Every contribution makes a real difference.
A huge thank you for your support.
